Metris Energy, a platform built around AI for overseeing energy assets, has completed a $5 million seed funding round. Leading the investment were PT1 Ventures, Octopus Ventures, AENU and Blackfinch Ventures, alongside additional backers Plug and Play and Love Ventures. The raise brings cumulative funding to $7.5 million.
Since its 2025 launch, Metris has tackled a fundamental challenge facing energy producers: data fragmentation. Solar portfolio managers typically juggle information scattered across inverters, meters, SCADA systems, customer relationship management platforms, spreadsheets and accounting software. The company's initial mission was consolidating these disconnected sources into a single view.
The startup's ambitions have broadened considerably. As electricity grids shift toward decentralisation and new revenue opportunities emerge—flexibility services, curtailment management, community energy schemes and corporate power purchase agreements—operators face an increasingly complex data landscape. Metris aims to become the unified foundation layer serving the entire energy sector.
The platform aggregates information from asset systems, metering infrastructure, SCADA, geographic information systems and energy market feeds to maintain a constantly refreshed snapshot of physical energy infrastructure. This gives portfolio owners real-time visibility and supplies the data backbone for automated operations, conversational AI queries, revenue optimisation and autonomous AI agents.
Metria AI, a new AI-powered interface launched alongside the funding round, handles intricate operational tasks that energy teams previously managed manually.
Natasha Jones, who founded and leads Metris, explained the company's strategic positioning:
Metris was founded on the core belief that the winners of the energy transition won't be the owners of the most kW of capacity, but those who can view, control and monetise them best. There's no unified layer that lets asset owners, or the AI agents now entering this space, actually see and act on their portfolio. That's the gap we're closing with Metris.
Natasha Jones, founder and CEO of Metris
Metris reports achieving eightfold year-on-year revenue expansion and currently oversees more than 10,000 solar installations totalling 500MW of generating capacity on behalf of power producers.
The fresh capital will fund development of more sophisticated autonomous capabilities and broaden the platform's reach into wind generation and Combined Heat and Power installations. Geographic expansion across Europe is also underway, with Germany emerging as a priority market where the company has already secured several new clients.
