F13, a newly unveiled artificial intelligence company focused on foundation models for vector graphics generation, has secured $5 million in pre-seed funding. Credo Ventures and Point Nine Capital led the round, joined by angel backers including Carles Reina from Baobab Ventures and Jack Richardson from mainframe.

The startup, established by Gregory Janik and Ingimar Tomasson, is building foundation models capable of producing precise and controllable vector graphics from text, images or existing designs. The company is positioning itself toward professional contexts where visual outputs must comply with particular specifications, proportions, layouts and design standards.

Existing image-generation systems excel at producing imaginative visuals but frequently fall short on technical precision, according to F13. Issues include charts that misrepresent data, scientific diagrams with incorrect proportions and creative materials that deviate from established design systems. F13 aims to overcome these shortcomings while cutting the time needed to create visuals.

Vector graphics—a format prevalent in design and engineering—maintain visual structure and proportions across varying sizes and resolutions. Critically, F13's outputs remain editable after creation, enabling users to refine and adjust designs iteratively rather than regenerating them entirely.

The company's technology is engineered to help its models comprehend and work with two-dimensional space. Initial applications span data visualisations and charts, editorial infographics, scientific and educational diagrams, maps and spatial graphics, plus brand-aligned layouts for presentations and marketing collateral.

We didn't want to build another model that's impressively expressive and quietly wrong. We create visuals that are not only beautiful to look at, but are true to the brief, with the correct proportions, accurate data, and precise layouts. That's the only version of this technology that's genuinely useful to discerning professionals who know what good looks like and are doing high-stakes design work.

F13 has begun early access operations and is offering its model via a developer API and a web platform enabling teams to generate, edit, manage and distribute their designs. A broader public rollout is scheduled for later this year.

The pre-seed capital will support bringing the first model to market while scaling compute resources, hiring talent and expanding data capabilities. The company also intends to investigate additional use cases and develop further models for increasingly complex design challenges.
