Finnish unicorns: the full list (October 2026)

Finland has 13 unicorns by Dealroom's October 2026 count. See who they are, their valuations, founding years, and which were sold or went public.

Finland has 13 unicorns, according to Dealroom's count published on 2 October 2026, up from eight at the end of 2024. That tally includes companies that have since been sold or listed. Three have been valued at $10 billion or more: Supercell, Oura and ICEYE. Other trackers show fewer names because they count only companies that are still private and still valued at $1 billion or more.

This page uses a broad definition and says clearly which companies are current and which are historical. Valuations are the figures reported at each company's last disclosed milestone, or the latest tracker estimate, and they change often.

How this list is defined

A unicorn here is a company founded in Finland, with its headquarters or main origin in Finland, that has reached a valuation of $1 billion or more through a funding round, a sale or a listing. Dealroom's Finnish unicorn table (updated October 2026) ranks nine companies by current valuation, while its 2 October analysis counts 13 because it also includes the newest additions and companies that were acquired.

Counts differ between sources because trackers use different thresholds and treat exits and listed companies differently. Check the date and the method before quoting any total. A Hurun Nordic index reported on 21 October 2026 puts Finland at the top of the Nordic region by combined unicorn value, at $34.5 billion, on its own criteria.

The three decacorns

ICEYE

ICEYE builds synthetic aperture radar satellites that image the ground through cloud and at night. In June 2026 it announced a Series F of €1 billion, made up of €450 million in new money and more than €550 million in secondary sales, at a valuation above €10 billion, according to one of its advisers. Dealroom described it as Finland's third decacorn. Dollar figures vary by tracker and exchange rate, so the euro figure from the company is the safer reference.

Oura

In September 2025 Oura was reported to be raising about $875 million, possibly more than $900 million, in a Series E at roughly an $11 billion valuation, roughly double its Series D valuation of $5 billion in November 2024, according to Fortune. Dealroom places the company in Oulu and still lists it at $11 billion.

Supercell

Supercell, maker of Clash of Clans, was bought by a Tencent-led consortium in 2016 for $8.6 billion, which covered up to 84.3 percent of the company, SCMP reported. Dealroom lists it at about $10 billion. Its founders are covered in our founders section.

The cloud, software and exit stories

Wolt

DoorDash announced the all-stock purchase of Wolt in November 2021 and completed it in 2022, at a value of about $8.1 billion. Wolt is no longer an independent startup, but it still counts as a Finnish unicorn exit.

RELEX Solutions

In February 2022 RELEX raised €500 million in a round led by Blackstone Growth at a €5 billion valuation. Current dollar valuations are tracker estimates, not company disclosures.

Aiven

Aiven raised $210 million in a Series D in May 2022, at a valuation of about $3 billion, in a round announced by the company. I found no later priced round from an official source, so that is the latest verified figure.

The quantum and AI newcomers of 2026

IQM

IQM, a Finnish maker of quantum computers, reached unicorn status in 2025 and went public through a merger with a special-purpose acquisition company in 2026, according to Dealroom, which now shows a valuation of $2.3 billion. As a listed company, its value moves daily, so check the current market price rather than this figure.

Verda

Verda, a Helsinki AI cloud provider formerly called DataCrunch, raised an oversubscribed $189 million Series B led by Emergence Capital, Tech.eu reported on 22 September 2026. The company says the valuation is above $1 billion; Dealroom shows $1.4 billion.

Bluefors

Bluefors makes dilution refrigerators used in quantum computers. Dealroom reported on 23 September 2026 that the company passed a €1 billion valuation, based on the share price in a directed offering shown in its latest financial statements, and that revenue was nearly €217 million last year. It is not a company announcement of a funding round.

Frequently asked questions

How many unicorns does Finland have?

Dealroom counted 13 Finnish unicorns on 2 October 2026, including companies that were later acquired. Its ranked valuation table shows nine, so totals depend on the method.

Which is the most valuable Finnish startup?

ICEYE and Oura are both at about $11 billion on Dealroom as of October 2026, with Supercell close behind at about $10 billion. Dealroom treats these three as Finland's decacorns, and Wolt's $8.1 billion sale price was lower.

Is Supercell still a Finnish company?

Supercell is headquartered in Helsinki, but a Tencent-led consortium has held most of it since the 2016 deal. Dealroom still counts it as Finnish.

Which Finnish startups became unicorns in 2026?

Dealroom lists Verda and Bluefors as the two Finnish companies that became unicorns in 2026. ICEYE, IQM and Hostaway were added in 2025.

Is Wolt still a startup?

No. DoorDash completed its acquisition of Wolt in 2022, so Wolt now operates as part of DoorDash.
