Apple has entered into a supply agreement worth up to $100 million with Perryman, a family-operated titanium manufacturer headquartered in Pennsylvania, to furnish materials for multiple devices over the coming three years. The material will serve as the primary component for the casing of the iPhone Duo, marking Apple's entry into the foldable phone market, alongside other product lines.
The arrangement reflects Apple's broader strategy to expand domestic sourcing of components, according to reporting by Reuters. The timing is significant, arriving just before the iPhone Duo launches commercially on 23 October.
Located in Houston, Pennsylvania, a community situated south of Pittsburgh, Perryman will undertake the melting, forging, and rolling operations at its facility. The company commits to utilizing recycled material for no less than 80% of the titanium supply. The iPhone Duo incorporates grade 5 titanium, a robust alloy variant that finds widespread application in aerospace manufacturing.
Perryman has traditionally focused on supplying the aerospace sector and medical device manufacturers. Apple did not disclose employment figures that may result from this partnership.
In parallel, Apple has deepened its relationship with Qnity Electronics, a Delaware-based supplier. Qnity will manufacture the film components integrated into the variable aperture mechanism featured in the iPhone 18 Pro.
Both arrangements fall within the scope of Apple's American Manufacturing Program, which the company established in August 2025 as part of a $600 billion investment commitment spanning four years directed toward US-based manufacturing and research infrastructure.
According to Apple's statements, approximately 100 distinct components incorporated into the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro originate from American manufacturers distributed across more than a dozen states. By the conclusion of this year, Corning's Kentucky manufacturing facility will supply all iPhone and Apple Watch protective glass destined for worldwide distribution.
Additionally, TSMC's semiconductor fabrication plant located in Arizona is projected to manufacture in excess of 100 million chips destined for Apple during 2026.
