The search giant is backing European scientific advancement by making its most sophisticated models available to approximately 200 leading researchers across the continent. Alongside this access, Google DeepMind and Google Cloud will distribute $3 million in compute credits to support their work.
The initiative grants researchers direct use of Google's cutting-edge scientific instruments, spanning AlphaFold 3, WeatherNext, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve, and AlphaEarth Foundations. Google frames the programme as a means to accelerate innovation momentum in Europe and reinforce the region's standing in global scientific research.
According to the company, this arrangement will enable researchers to address demanding scientific problems with greater speed. Applications range from forecasting severe weather events to deciphering the architecture of molecules, positioning European science to maintain its competitive edge in breakthrough research.
Google has not disclosed which specific researchers or institutions will receive access to these frontier models.
The announcement arrives as London-based artificial intelligence ventures founded by former DeepMind researchers have begun emerging publicly. Ineffable Intelligence, established by David Silver—a prominent former DeepMind figure—secured $1.1 billion in seed-stage funding at a $5.1 billion valuation, marking Europe's largest seed round to date. Separately, Inherent, founded by alumni from DeepMind, Microsoft and the White House, unveiled itself with a $50 million funding round.
