A definitive agreement between Greentech Alliance (GTA) and Intermobility will merge two major networks focused on sustainable transport. The combined entity encompasses more than 5,000 members and partners spanning 25+ countries across six continents, uniting climate investors, transport operators, startups and government officials in efforts to decarbonise one of Europe's most challenging sectors.
Greentech Alliance, established in Berlin during May 2020 by Lubomila Jordanova, Simon Thies, Hannah Kromminga and Jan-Jaap Verhoeve, operates as both a Canadian not-for-profit and a German for-profit entity under the leadership of CEO Charles Newton Price. The organisation currently maintains a membership base exceeding 3,000 across more than 25 countries on six continents, facilitating connections between stakeholders through curated membership, introductions and collaborative learning initiatives.
Intermobility brings to the table a European network comprising more than 1,000 companies, municipal authorities and ecosystem participants focused on transport and mobility solutions.
The mobility sector remains Europe's weakest link in climate transition efforts. Transport emissions stood at 25.3 per cent above 1990 baseline levels in 2023 and represented roughly 31 per cent of total EU emissions, according to data from the European Environment Agency. Despite this challenge, European mobility startups achieved 654 funding rounds during 2025, a decline from 785 rounds in the previous year, with total private capital raised reaching $10.1bn.
The acquisition addresses this coordination shortfall by placing Intermobility's operators, municipalities and public sector bodies alongside GTA's climate-focused investors, technology companies and established corporations—the stakeholder groups whose alignment proves essential for scaling mobility innovations beyond pilot phases.
The merger creates tangible benefits for both investor and corporate participants. Investors gain curated access to mobility ventures from both networks plus introductions to potential co-investors, corporate partners and public sector buyers. Companies benefit from expanded pathways to customers, pilot opportunities and financing sources throughout Europe and internationally.
Both organisations intend to pursue joint ventures and financing initiatives, including projects connected to Climate Zero programmes, contingent on GTA's individual approval of each undertaking.
François Hoehlinger, founder of Intermobility, will assume a position on GTA's board, contributing to the Alliance's strategic direction as it expands.
Europe does not have a mobility technology problem, it has a coordination problem. The capital, the startups and the cities are all there, but they rarely meet. Bringing Intermobility into Greentech Alliance puts the people who build, fund and buy mobility solutions in one network, and we are inviting investors and companies who want a seat at that table to join us.
Charles Newton Price, CEO, Greentech Alliance
Mobility only changes when founders, investors, operators and public authorities move together. Intermobility built that table in Europe. Greentech Alliance gives it international reach and access to capital, while keeping a grounded European perspective at its heart.
