Silicon battery material specialist Group14 Technologies has wrapped up a €150 million addition to its Series D round, as announced on October 29, 2026. An undisclosed new backer provided the capital, bringing the overall Series D to more than $665 million.
The company intends to construct a production facility in Sagunto, Spain, as a direct result of this financing. The BAM-4 plant will initially operate a single production line capable of generating 10 gigawatt-hours of output. The site will manufacture SCC55, Group14's proprietary silicon battery material. The firm has not yet revealed when Spanish production will commence.
Capacity expansion targets 40 gigawatt-hours globally
When factoring in the Spanish operation, Group14's aggregate near-term capacity target reaches 40 gigawatt-hours.
The BAM-3 facility in Sangju, South Korea already has one 10-gigawatt-hour module running at full capacity, with production ramping according to company statements. The BAM-2 location in Moses Lake, Washington will host two modules totaling 20 gigawatt-hours, with both expected to begin operations during the first half of 2027.
Since 2021, Group14 has operated a commercial pilot production site in Woodinville. The company reports having delivered SCC55 to over 150 clients from this location.
European market access through Spanish operations
The Sagunto investment represents Group14's strategy to position itself nearer to the automotive supply networks of European manufacturers. According to the company, spreading production across multiple geographic regions strengthens resilience in supply chains and enables more responsive customer service. Group14 indicates that SCC55 currently appears in smartphones, unmanned aerial vehicles, premium performance automobiles, and electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
