A collaboration between South Korean battery contract manufacturer JR Energy Solution (JRES) and European battery cell producer Automotive Cells Company (ACC) is under discussion, with both firms examining possibilities for electrode manufacturing across Europe. The potential partnership would grant JRES access to ACC's production facilities in Nersac, France, to fulfill upcoming orders from its customer base.
Nersac as a Potential Manufacturing Site
The two companies are targeting battery manufacturers who require production capacity positioned nearer to their operations in the Western hemisphere. JRES intends to evaluate whether the Nersac location could integrate into its existing manufacturing and logistics framework. Such an arrangement might generate manufacturing orders serving customers across Europe, Korea, and North America.
Functioning as both a research facility and manufacturing hub, Nersac merges innovation activities with full-scale production capabilities. ACC notes that the facility has previously manufactured electrodes conforming to automotive sector quality standards. The envisioned partnership would build upon current research, validation, and production work while leveraging unused production capacity at the site.
Implementation Remains Subject to Conditions
Before any manufacturing partnership can move forward, the companies must complete technical evaluations and achieve quality certifications. Following these assessments, JRES and ACC would need to finalize formal contractual terms. Approvals from internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities represent additional requirements that must be satisfied. The memorandum of understanding currently in place establishes a foundation for exploring additional collaboration opportunities in the broader battery manufacturing sector.
