Aformic, a Duncan-based maker of autonomous material-handling equipment, has closed a $6.95M seed funding round anchored by Veteran Ventures Capital. The round also drew backing from ff Venture Capital, Mana Ventures, Red Beard Ventures and Alamo Angels, the company announced Wednesday. With more than $34M in existing orders already secured, Aformic is now turning its attention toward robots designed specifically for constructing and servicing AI data centres.
The startup manufactures self-driving forklifts and carts that move materials through factories and warehouses without relying on floor tape or markers. Its proprietary Qursor software handles route planning and task assignment. Aformic traces its roots to AIUT, a Polish industrial automation firm, and maintains an engineering and manufacturing facility in Gliwice, Poland alongside its South Carolina headquarters.
Aformic's installed base includes hundreds of robots serving customers such as Toyota, Hitachi, 3M, Hyundai Mobis and Oshkosh Defense. During the past year alone, the company's fleet accumulated more than 186,000 miles of operation inside customer facilities.

The fresh capital will support expansion of Aformic's engineering and sales teams, continued development of the Qursor platform, and creation of robotic systems tailored to other applications. Among these new opportunities is automation for data centre construction and maintenance—a sector where labour scarcity has become a critical constraint for builders.
Factory robotics continues to attract substantial investor interest. Earlier this week, Tutor Intelligence secured $75M from a16z for robots available on an hourly rental basis, while Toyota spin-out Walden Robotics launched in July with $300M in backing.
