Plinto, a Copenhagen-based artificial intelligence company founded in early 2025, has announced a €2.9 million funding round led by People Ventures and Emblem. The capital will fuel expansion of its AI-powered platform for monitoring financial transactions, scaling its enterprise client base and entering new geographic markets beyond Denmark.
The startup was established by Jakob Nielsen, Nermina Suljevic and Sebastian Rehnby. Its core offering centres on AI agents designed to help organisations spot and fix errors in financial transactions. Rather than relying on manual review processes, the platform automates the verification work that finance departments typically handle by hand, ensuring transactions align with contractual obligations, budget constraints and company policies.
Plinto's technology connects to the systems companies already use, ranging from enterprise resource planning software to banking platforms and workplace communication applications like Slack and Microsoft Teams. The AI agents validate transactions against established terms, flag any deviations, gather evidence and can even initiate follow-up actions—contacting vendors about billing errors, requesting refunds or preparing documentation for approval.
The platform targets larger enterprises where transaction volumes make comprehensive manual checking impractical. Many organisations resort to sampling or end-of-month audits, allowing erroneous charges and duplicate payments to slip through until after funds have left the account.
We're building AI agents that find deviations, investigate them and take action, so errors get fixed.
Jakob Nielsen, co-founder of Plinto
The company currently serves paying clients and runs pilot programmes in logistics, real estate, facility management and food manufacturing sectors. According to Plinto's own data, its agents have uncovered roughly 430 discrepancies monthly within a single division of one customer. In another instance, the system caught a duplicate invoice disguised under an alternate supplier name, preventing a second payment from being authorised.
Many of our customers work with low margins, so even small errors can quickly add up. The problem is that they're often only discovered after the money has been paid. We want companies to catch and fix errors before they hit the bottom line,
Nermina Suljevic, co-founder and CEO of Plinto
The fresh funding will enable Plinto to invest in product capabilities, recruit enterprise accounts and launch operations in markets outside its home country.
