RhymeQ, a quantum computing startup, has announced its emergence from stealth mode following a $2.2 million pre-seed funding round. Ground State Ventures led the investment, joined by Vanagon Ventures, Plug and Play, and Freiraum Ventures. The company's mission centres on democratising quantum programming by removing the need for deep expertise in quantum physics.
The Berlin-based team—Daniel Volz (CEO), Tamás Varga (CTO) and Christina Wu (COO)—founded RhymeQ in 2026 to tackle a fundamental bottleneck in quantum computing adoption. While quantum systems promise breakthroughs in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, finance and manufacturing, their programming remains locked behind a wall of specialised knowledge. Today, only researchers with PhD-level physics backgrounds can effectively debug quantum circuits.
RhymeQ's answer is Rhyme, a platform built on an abstraction layer that translates basic Python code into instructions for quantum hardware. Developers can leverage familiar programming patterns while the platform's compilers handle the quantum-specific translation. The system also supports multiple quantum processors, preventing vendor lock-in.
While vibe coding is taking over the classical programming world, the situation is not so simple in the quantum world. Quantum circuits can only be debugged by PhD-level physicists. With Rhyme, any programmer can both develop and debug production-ready code to run on quantum computers at enterprise level.

Kris Kaczmarek, Partner at Ground State Ventures, identified the core problem the startup addresses: quantum hardware and algorithms have advanced significantly, yet the developer ecosystem remains tiny. Volz's track record—implementing quantum computing at BASF and building quantum solutions at Kipu Quantum—positions him well to bridge this gap.
RhymeQ has joined NVIDIA Inception and integrated its technology with NVIDIA's CUDA-Q platform, enabling code to execute on GPU-accelerated quantum simulators and processors from various hardware makers.
The fresh capital will fuel team expansion, deepen the enterprise platform, and cultivate a worldwide developer community. RhymeQ also intends to partner with quantum hardware manufacturers to integrate their existing software libraries into Rhyme.
