Stride, a UK-based preventative healthcare venture founded by Olympic medallist and DNAfit co-founder Andrew Steele, has announced a £4.6 million seed round. The investment consortium includes Arāya Ventures, Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures, Better Ventures, Innovate UK and an a16z Scout Fund investor, complemented by backing from angel investors.

Launched in May 2024, Stride integrates DNA analysis, blood work and gut microbiome testing alongside bespoke health insights to enable users to track their wellbeing trajectory and make data-informed choices. The platform's core mission centres on shifting healthcare paradigms away from reactive treatment toward early identification and mitigation of health risks.

Steele articulated the company's vision in a statement: "Preventative health can sometimes sound boring or worthy, when actually it could be one of the most transformative opportunities of our generation. If we can make better health exciting, aspirational and genuinely engaging, and use deeper analysis to give people better insights earlier in life, we have the potential to change everyday behaviours at a scale that could fundamentally reshape how long and how well we live."

Beyond individual health outcomes, Stride recognises preventative medicine's potential to ease strain on healthcare infrastructure. By enabling early detection of personal risk profiles and supporting lifestyle modifications before disease onset, the company positions itself as a tool for reducing preventable disease burden on systems like the NHS.

The startup has secured separate Innovate UK grants supporting two research initiatives. One explores a multiomic methodology for biological age measurement, while the other develops an AI-driven health assistant integrating laboratory findings, wearable sensor data, medical records and additional health information to deliver tailored guidance.

Stride is strengthening its market position through collaborations with premium wellness venues. Partnerships with Triple Bond at The BoTree Hotel and LongLane, a non-alcoholic biohacking retreat, leverage Stride's testing capabilities to customise member experiences.

Capital from this round will accelerate development of Stride's predictive health platform while enabling the company to take its Stride One membership offering internationally. The company targets market entry outside the United Kingdom by the conclusion of 2026.
