Yazen Health, a Lund-based digital healthcare provider, has closed a €50 million funding round co-led by growth investor Verdane and joined by returning investor Evli Growth Partners. The company treats obesity as a chronic condition by pairing weight-loss medications with continuous remote care delivered by doctors, dietitians, psychologists and physiotherapists working as an integrated team.
The Swedish startup's platform delivers medical care to patients with obesity through a model that includes access to a personal physician and broader clinical support covering nutrition, mental health, exercise and sustained treatment management. Rather than pursuing short-term weight reduction, Yazen frames obesity as a progressive disease requiring long-term medical intervention.
Currently, more than 50,000 patients are actively using Yazen's platform, with over 70,000 having received treatment since launch. The company operates across eight markets: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
Research from a 2025 study of Yazen's patient population found that 70% remained engaged in treatment after one year. The company attributes this retention rate to its approach of combining pharmacological intervention with consistent clinical oversight to sustain patient commitment.
Obesity is a chronic, progressive disease, not a character flaw. Verdane's thorough evaluation of the European market confirms what our clinical data already shows: our medical model delivers results that set a new standard for the industry. This partnership provides us with a long-term and strong financial foundation. We can now build an established European healthcare platform that helps hundreds of thousands of patients achieve a lastingly healthier life, while simultaneously reducing the burden on public healthcare.
Fredrik Meurling, CEO of Yazen
Verdane, which specializes in backing technology-driven and sustainable enterprises, led the investment round. Evli Growth Partners, which first backed Yazen two years ago, has returned as a continuing investor.
We are deeply impressed by the Yazen team and the strong momentum it is demonstrating. Our analysis made it clear that Yazen stands out as a reliable and scalable leader in medical weight management, where it combines medical excellence with accessibility. We are experienced in building responsible, digital healthcare companies with a strong focus on data privacy and medical governance, and we look forward to supporting Yazen as a long-term partner as it continues to make a measurable and life-changing difference to individual health.
Cecilia Nytorp, Principal at Verdane
Verdane's investment decision rested on Yazen's demonstrated clinical results, adherence to medical standards, patient-centered design and capacity to replicate its approach across different European jurisdictions. The firm brings experience scaling digital healthcare businesses operating within regulated sectors.
When we first backed Yazen two years ago, we saw a team capable of setting a new standard in medical obesity care. Since then, they have expanded across Europe while maintaining uncompromising clinical standards and a deep commitment to their patients. We are delighted to continue our support alongside Verdane as lead investor. This funding provides the scale to reach more European markets and broaden treatment across cardiometabolic care. The true measure of Yazen's success, however, is personal. Recently at an event, an individual approached our team solely to express how Yazen had changed his life — a story mirrored by tens of thousands of patients who have found lasting health through this platform.
Mikael Hed, Chairman of the Board, Yazen, and EGP Growth Partner
Yazen intends to deploy the capital toward geographic expansion across Europe and broadening its clinical scope into cardiometabolic disease management. The company views the funding as establishing the financial runway needed to reach additional patient populations while strengthening its position as a pan-European digital health provider.
Meurling stated that the partnership would allow Yazen to construct a more comprehensive healthcare platform while preserving its commitment to clinical rigor and measurable patient health outcomes.
