Complaion, an Italian startup focused on helping small and medium-sized enterprises manage certifications and regulatory compliance, has announced a €13.5 million funding round. The investment was led by Eurazeo and Italian Founders Fund, with backing from Shapers, 2100 Ventures, Kfund, Sella Direct Ventures, Enzo Ventures, Vento, Ithaca, Eden Ventures and Vesper.
The company, established in 2024 by Edoardo Tarricone (CEO), Marco Cortinovis (COO), and Alessandro Vaccarino (CTO), combines proprietary software with guidance from certified lead auditors and compliance specialists to streamline the certification process for businesses. According to Complaion, its technology can handle as much as 80 per cent of the manual work typically required in compliance workflows and has shortened certification timelines by up to five times.
Complaion's customer base spans multiple industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, logistics, professional services, agri-food, IT and software. The platform currently supports a range of standards covering quality management, information security and artificial intelligence management, alongside environmental and gender equality certifications.
Expanding the compliance toolkit
The platform's current offerings include ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 42001 (artificial intelligence management), as well as ESG-focused certifications such as ISO 14001 (environmental management) and UNI/PdR 125 (gender equality). The company also assists organisations in meeting European regulatory obligations, including the NIS2 Directive and the AI Act.
Looking ahead, Complaion intends to broaden its service portfolio to become a comprehensive compliance solution for SMEs. Planned additions include Health & Safety support, Privacy & GDPR assistance, subsidised financing guidance and DPO-as-a-service offerings.
In an increasingly digital sector, human expertise must remain central - especially in a complex market such as compliance. We will continue expanding our offerings to serve an ever-growing number of SMEs in Europe and make compliance easier, effortless and reliable. Our mission is to be the point of reference for all compliance needs based on expertise, technology, trust and human connection.
Edoardo Tarricone, CEO of Complaion
What the funding will support
The capital injection will fund several strategic priorities for the company. Complaion plans to hire additional specialists, strengthen its customer support infrastructure and continue developing its proprietary platform. The company will also use the investment to accelerate its market expansion across Europe.
