From October 30 to November 1, Vienna hosted Castillia's Heritage Gala 2026, an invitation-only event orchestrated by Princess Sophia Wolkonsky, founder and CEO of Castillia. The gathering assembled royalty, international business executives, technology leaders and esports personalities across several of the Austrian capital's historic venues to celebrate cultural heritage and forge international connections.

The attendee list reflected the event's cross-sector ambitions. Prince Omar bin Faisal of Jordan, who leads the Jordan Esports Federation, joined Prince Gabriel of Nassau from Luxembourg's Grand Ducal family. Johann Strobl, former CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International, shared the stage with Vlad Marinescu, President of the International Esports Federation. Alexandru Stan, CEO of The Next Web, was also present.

Castillia's mission: bridging heritage and contemporary culture

Castillia, under Wolkonsky's direction, specializes in historic properties and cultural heritage experiences designed to connect tradition with modern international audiences. The Vienna event embodied this philosophy by weaving formal celebrations with substantive discussions on the future of cultural preservation.

Structured around the theme The Enchanted Forest, the programme featured an opening reception, a Heritage Salon hosting panel discussions, a formal gala dinner and a concluding brunch. The centrepiece was the unveiling of AVOR, a newly established nonprofit focused on cultural initiatives.

Esports emerges as a sector of interest

While esports was not the gala's primary focus, the sector attracted notable attention from participants. Prince Omar bin Faisal has shaped esports development in Jordan and maintains involvement with international esports bodies. Marinescu's presence brought institutional perspective on competitive gaming's growth and organization at the global level.

Filip Šoć, President of the Alliance of Electronic Sports of Montenegro and founder of Montenegro Future Festival, attended alongside Prince Gabriel of Nassau, who demonstrated interest in the industry.

AVOR: documenting global cultural narratives

AVOR's launch on October 30 marked a defining moment for Castillia 2026. The international nonprofit is constructing a Global Cultural Atlas, engaging young people in recording the narratives and locations that define cultural heritage worldwide.

The inaugural ceremony took place at Vienna Private Members, Jockey Club, located at Palais Esterházy. The Heritage Salon convened the following day at Park Hyatt Vienna, with the formal Heritage Gala held at Palais Pallavicini. The three-day programme concluded on November 1.

A convergence of tradition and contemporary leadership

The event operated under the patronage of Prince Omar bin Faisal of Jordan, Princess Ratsimamanga Ralandison Fenosoa, Maharani Sahiba Nivritti Kumari Mewar of Udaipur, Duke Michael zu Mecklenburg and Prince Constantin Sturdza.

By assembling historic families, cultural custodians, corporate leaders and representatives from emerging industries in a single setting, Wolkonsky's Castillia created a forum where the stewardship of cultural legacy intersects with the possibilities of tomorrow.
