At its AI World conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Oracle unveiled Media Fabric, a comprehensive platform designed to streamline video production and distribution for media companies, streaming platforms and advertisers. The offering integrates the company's own artificial intelligence models for video and image generation alongside a production suite and live-streaming network, enabling brands to generate multiple ad variations and broadcasters to customize content for different audiences.
According to Oracle chief executive Clay Magouyrk, "Creating content and delivering it to viewers were separate processes. With Oracle Media Fabric, we're bringing content creation and streaming together, using AI across the entire production and distribution workflow." The company expects to make the platform available within 12 months.
Core Components
The platform's architecture comprises three main elements. Creative Studio houses Oracle's proprietary AI models for video and image creation and editing, while also offering the flexibility to incorporate third-party models based on considerations of cost, security and intellectual property risk. Oracle Video Edge handles large-scale live events, leveraging real-time data to route viewers to optimal servers, ensuring rapid stream initiation and stable performance during peak traffic periods.
Key Capabilities and Safeguards
The platform enables brands to transform a single advertisement into numerous variations adhering to specific brand guidelines, while broadcasters gain the ability to personalize programming for distinct viewer segments. Oracle has incorporated protective measures to secure customer content and mitigate risks associated with AI-generated material inadvertently replicating existing copyrighted work. These concerns have gained prominence in the industry, as evidenced by ByteDance's agreement with Hollywood studios regarding its AI video tool in August.
Oracle positions Media Fabric as democratizing capabilities previously available only to the largest streaming enterprises. Major platforms like Netflix have already begun leveraging generative AI to enhance content discovery for viewers.
Broader Announcements
Media Fabric represents one of several significant announcements Oracle made during the AI World conference this week, alongside a partnership to provide Cerebras AI computers and the establishment of a $1 billion fund for partners.
