Creandum, a European venture capital firm known for backing companies including Lovable, Klarna and Black Forest Labs, has announced the close of Fund VIII at $750M—its biggest fund yet. The new vehicle represents a significant jump from Fund VII, which raised €500M ($560M).

The fund will deploy capital across seed and Series A investments, with half earmarked for initial cheques and the remainder reserved for follow-on rounds. Backing comes from what Creandum describes as "multiple elite US and European institutional investors."

The firm, which has maintained a San Francisco office since 2012, is now expanding its US footprint with a new location in the city. Teams across Stockholm, London, Berlin and San Francisco will operate in coordination, allowing the firm to offer founders a unified partnership spanning both continents.

Creandum highlighted a structural imbalance in transatlantic capital flows: roughly half of all venture funding flowing into European tech originates from the US, yet European investors contribute minimal capital to American tech ventures. The firm framed its expansion as a response to intensifying competition from US venture firms seeking European deal flow.

Staffan Helgesson, founder and partner, commented: "After nearly 25 years in venture, one belief has only grown stronger: it's the founders you back that matter most. With Fund VIII, we remain focused on one simple thing - finding the boldest and most ambitious early-stage founders in Europe - and increasingly in the US - and being the first to back them. That core focus is what led us to incredible companies like Lovable, Spotify, Modal, Black Forest Labs, and Rillet, to name but a few."
