Managing workforce operations across multiple borders presents companies with a maze of regulatory frameworks, payroll infrastructure and compliance obligations. When businesses operate in several jurisdictions simultaneously, they often must engage multiple service providers, multiplying both administrative burden and expense.
Fronted, a Nordic HR technology company, has now secured €1.7 million (NOK 18 million) through a seed funding round aimed at accelerating its global reach and enhancing its AI-driven system for international employment administration. Swedish venture firm Kaknäs Invest led the investment, with Skagerak Capital joining as a co-investor. The round also drew backing from returning backers Antler and Sondo Capital, plus a cohort of new angel investors.
The platform, created by Marius Blaker Høgevold (CEO) and Hans Nyvold Kjellby (Chairman and CCO), tackles cross-border complexity by uniting recruitment across borders, Employer of Record capabilities and the establishment and administration of corporate entities into a single integrated solution. This approach enables organisations to handle worldwide hiring and employment administration through one partner rather than juggling multiple vendors.
Fronted's technology handles the grunt work of international employment management by automating payroll computations, tax adjustments and the drafting of employment agreements. The platform embeds jurisdiction-specific labour rules directly into its software, thereby cutting down on manual labour, bringing cost structures into the open and making compliance across borders more straightforward.
We are building the invisible software layer that takes away the headache of cross-border administration, giving ambitious companies a trusted Nordic partner to scale globally with total transparency and ease
Marius Blaker Høgevold, co-founder and CEO of Fronted
Høgevold underscored the obstacles that confront organisations seeking to grow beyond their home markets, particularly the financial and operational strain imposed by conventional service provider models.
The capital injection will fuel Fronted's business development efforts, broaden its operational footprint to reach 70 countries and strengthen its AI-powered payroll processing engine.
