Green Voltis, an energy technology company based in Stockholm, has completed a Series A funding round of €13.5 million backed exclusively by Lochpine Capital. The firm specialises in artificial intelligence-powered route-to-market optimisation for battery storage and renewable energy assets, enabling operators to handle grid connections, manage energy systems and participate in electricity trading across European markets. Currently managing more than 1.2 GWh of capacity under contract and operational, Green Voltis intends to deploy the capital to enhance its Aether AI trading agent and Chronos energy management system, push into additional European regions, and build out its Power-to-Compute division, which seeks to link AI data centre infrastructure with adaptable, grid-compatible energy systems.

Platform and services

The company's offering combines two core components: Aether AI functions as a trading agent that predicts electricity price movements and maximises revenue potential across numerous power markets, while Chronos serves as an energy management system governing on-site operations and ensuring grid compliance. Beyond software, Green Voltis delivers grid connection support, asset commissioning, market access facilitation and commercial services tailored to energy asset owners. The business operates across 10 European markets and is constructing a Power-to-Compute division aimed at bridging flexible energy infrastructure with AI data centres.

Battery operators face complex challenges in navigating grid connection standards, technical requirements and price swings across day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets. Since electricity prices shift every 15 minutes, maximising battery revenues demands technology capable of engaging with multiple markets in parallel. Green Voltis addresses this through its asset lifecycle services, spanning from initial grid connection and commissioning through to ongoing energy management and electricity trading. The engineering division manages hot commissioning and prequalification for ancillary services, facilitating storage projects' market entry. Chronos manages on-site operations, maintains grid-code compliance and supports grid-forming capabilities.

Aether AI employs time-series foundation models to forecast electricity prices and synchronise trading activity across different markets. Rather than dedicating battery capacity to a single market, the system integrates revenue opportunities from multiple electricity markets simultaneously. The company also structures commercial arrangements including revenue sharing, tolling agreements and revenue floors, designed to deliver more stable income streams for asset owners and facilitate project financing.

Green Voltis reports that battery assets under its management have regularly surpassed the Clean Horizon index, an independent performance benchmark for battery storage revenues. The company has established or is developing market access in 10 European countries.

Investor perspective

As renewables take a larger share of the energy mix, grid connection and power trading are becoming key to the value of energy assets, and they are among the scarcest capabilities in Europe's energy transition. We followed this field for a long time before choosing Green Voltis. The team combines AI-native technology with a global industrial perspective, and its operating results, which have consistently beaten the industry benchmark, show what it can do. We believe Green Voltis can become a leading operator of flexible energy assets in Europe and create greater value where AI and energy meet.

Power-to-Compute expansion

Beyond battery storage operations, Green Voltis is developing a Power-to-Compute business targeting the escalating power demands of AI infrastructure. The company identifies lengthy grid connection processes as a significant barrier to data centre expansion in Europe, with connections in major data centre hubs requiring an estimated seven to ten years. Simultaneously, regulators in countries such as Ireland and Finland are mandating that new data centres contribute flexibility to the electricity grid.

Green Voltis proposes to overcome these obstacles by developing data centre sites as flexible energy assets. The Power-to-Compute model integrates grid infrastructure with computing capacity, enabling data centres to operate responsively to grid conditions. The company has identified approximately 120 MW of powered land in the Nordic region as a pipeline opportunity and intends to pursue development in collaboration with compute operators.

Every new gigawatt of renewables makes Europe's grid harder to balance, and flexibility now sets the pace of the energy transition. We built Aether and Chronos to turn storage and renewable plants into assets the grid can rely on and investors can bank on. The next wave of demand comes from AI. Data centres need power faster than grids can deliver it, and the intelligence that operates a battery can also manage a data centre's energy. Green Voltis will provide the AI energy infrastructure layer between the grid and compute. With Lochpine Capital as a long-term partner, we are ready to build it.
