An artificial intelligence-driven career platform based in Tallinn has secured €2.9 million in funding from Practica Capital, a Baltic venture capital investor, alongside participation from Inventure, a Nordic-focused fund. The company, called Roleo, was established by Janer Gorohhov, who previously co-founded identity verification firm Veriff, and Vahur Hansen, an early engineer at Wise. The platform deploys a personal AI agent designed to scan job openings throughout Europe and match technology workers with employers tailored to their background, aspirations and work preferences—all without requiring candidates to search actively or complete applications themselves. The fresh capital will fuel development of the AI agent and geographic expansion across Europe.
Roleo operates as an Estonian technology venture focused on delivering AI-driven career services to technology professionals. Its core product is a personal AI agent that examines a user's professional history, technical abilities, career direction and individual preferences to surface fitting employment opportunities and facilitate introductions to prospective employers. The system is built to enable continuous career oversight by watching labour market movements and pairing professionals with positions that align with their profile, eliminating the need for manual job searching or formal application submissions.
Most people spend years building their careers, but only actively manage them when something goes wrong or they decide it is time for a change. Meanwhile, great opportunities come and go, often without the right people ever hearing about them. We believe everyone should have a personal active career agent that understands what they want, keeps an eye on the market, and brings relevant opportunities to them. You should be able to focus on doing great work without missing out on what could come next.
Janer Gorohhov, co-founder and CEO of Roleo
Conventional recruitment platforms typically ask job seekers to browse listings, file applications and participate in hiring competitions. Roleo inverts this model by conducting market surveillance on users' behalf, including those not currently seeking employment transitions.
The system gathers data on each professional's work experience, compensation targets, role preferences and workplace conditions. It then reviews opportunities across Europe's technology landscape and pinpoints positions suited to individual profiles. Upon identifying a promising match, Roleo can introduce the candidate directly to a hiring manager, bypassing the standard application procedure.
Professionals maintain authority over their exposure, data sharing and whether to explore a given opportunity. The service carries no cost for workers, while employers access talent pools they would not typically encounter through standard hiring channels.
From the start of 2026 onward, Roleo reports that its AI agent has presented users with 30,000 career opportunities that received further investigation. The platform processes hundreds of thousands of potential roles each week, typically surfacing three fitting matches per user.
AI is already changing how people handle everyday tasks, from managing information to organising their finances. Yet career management still requires people to do most of the work themselves. We want to build something that stays with you throughout your career, learns what matters to you, and helps you make better decisions over time. The goal isn't to have AI make career decisions for people, but to make sure they have the right information and opportunities when those decisions matter.
Janer Gorohhov
Practica Capital spearheaded the €2.9 million round, with Inventure joining as a co-investor. The startup has also drawn backing from several technology sector figures and investors: Markus Villig, founder and chief executive of Bolt; Sergei Anikin; Henrik Bohman; Kristina Lilleõis; and Lemonade Stand.
The two founders carry backgrounds from prominent European technology enterprises. Gorohhov previously established Veriff, an identity verification business, whereas Hansen served in the founding engineering cohort at Wise and also launched Membo, another startup. Both have completed Y Combinator's accelerator programme.
Roleo has accumulated €3.46 million in total funding to date, per the company's statement.
We saw potential in the Roleo founders – their proven operational experience and grounded, yet very high ambition. They came with a clear short-term plan and a long-term vision that's easy to relate to. Leading this round was a natural fit for us, and we believe they are the team best positioned to set a new standard for how people build their careers.
Donatas Keras, Partner at Practica Capital
The capital infusion will support advancement of Roleo's AI career agent and rollout across European territories. The company intends to broaden its platform's scope beyond role matching, seeking to accompany professionals throughout their entire working lives.
I've watched Janer build Veriff and I know what Vahur did at Wise. Both know first-hand how hard it is to find and hire great people across Europe.
Markus Villig, angel investor, founder and CEO of Bolt
Roleo exemplifies a wider movement toward AI-assisted hiring technologies, with the platform positioning itself on the candidate end of recruitment rather than the employer side. Instead of concentrating on helping companies filter applications, it seeks to uncover roles for technology workers and enable connections with organisations before candidates enter traditional hiring workflows.
I booked flights the moment I heard Janer and Vahur were working together. They've seen the hardships of hiring at Veriff and Wise, and YC has really taught them growth. Roleo has one of the strongest founding teams in European tech.
Henrik Bohman, angel investor, ex-Wise
The startup intends to direct its initial European growth toward technology professionals and their employers, leveraging the founders' track record in constructing and scaling global technology operations.
Having spent my career in people leadership, I've seen how much talent is missed because the best candidates aren't actively applying, and how much time good companies waste sifting through noise. Roleo fixes both sides of that: it brings people roles they'd never have found on their own, and brings employers candidates they'd never have reached. The team is focused, practical and building something people genuinely need, which is why I was glad to back them.
Kristina Lilleõis, angel investor, Chief People Officer at Hedosophia
