Vensum Power, a deeptech company headquartered in Espoo, has secured €9 million through a Series A investment round. The financing was co-led by returning backer Lifeline Ventures alongside fresh investors Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures. Grid.vc and Harjavalta Ventures also joined the round. This brings the company's cumulative funding to €15.2 million since its 2018 founding.
The company specializes in software-defined power conversion technology aimed at reducing energy losses during electricity conversion. Its applications span EV charging infrastructure, energy storage systems, DC microgrids and increasingly, AI data centres. Vensum currently operates with approximately 20 employees.
The capital injection marks a pivotal shift for Vensum Power as it transitions from research and development toward commercial manufacturing at scale. The firm expects its initial products targeting EV charging, energy storage and DC microgrids to reach mass production through partner factories by 2027. Following this, the company intends to adapt its technology for deployment in AI data centre infrastructure.
Data centre operators face mounting pressure as electricity demand from AI workloads continues climbing while grid capacity remains constrained. Power conversion efficiency has emerged as a critical factor in addressing these infrastructure bottlenecks. Vensum's software-defined approach maintains high conversion efficiency even when electrical loads fluctuate rapidly, ensuring more electricity reaches equipment in usable form.
The funding round propels us from developing technology to delivering it at industrial scale and bringing the same proven solution to AI data centers, where access to power has become the main bottleneck. The question in data centers is no longer only how powerful the chips are, but how efficiently the used electricity actually reaches them. Thanks to the software-defined approach, our converters operate consistently at extremely high efficiency even with rapidly changing loads.
Peter Nisula, CEO of Vensum Power
Both new institutional backers bring relevant sectoral knowledge to Vensum's expansion plans. Larsen & Toubro operates as an engineering and technology conglomerate, while Eviny maintains operations across renewable energy and energy infrastructure sectors.
Data centers are competing with every other sector for the same grid capacity, and Vensum Power tackles one of the most overlooked inefficiencies in the system: converting power into a form that equipment can use optimally. The global energy transition and the growth of digital infrastructure both depend on getting this right, at scale. We are proud to support Vensum Power as it scales up across global markets and, in doing so, we help accelerate the energy transition.
Prashant Chiranjive Jain, Managing Director of L&T Vyoma and Head of L&T Electronic Products & Systems, Larsen & Toubro
Through our own operations, we see every day how much value is lost when power is converted on its way to where it is needed. Vensum Power cuts those losses in areas we know well, such as EV charging, energy production, and energy storage. We look forward to supporting the team with Eviny's experience from more than a century in renewable energy.
Andreas Engelsen, CEO of Eviny Ventures
Vensum intends to deploy the Series A proceeds toward ramping production capacity and broadening its technology portfolio across emerging applications, particularly within AI infrastructure systems.
