A Helsinki-based deeptech firm focused on power conversion efficiency has landed €9 million in Series A funding, led jointly by Lifeline Ventures, Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures. The capital injection brings Vensum Power's cumulative fundraising to €15.2 million and will fuel the shift toward manufacturing at scale and entry into the AI data centre sector.

Vensum Power's core offering is a software-defined platform for power conversion that cuts energy waste when electricity moves through conversion systems. The technology targets three main markets: electric vehicle charging infrastructure, battery storage installations and direct-current microgrids. As global electricity consumption climbs, minimising losses during power conversion has become a critical efficiency lever.

The platform's distinguishing feature lies in its ability to sustain peak efficiency even as electrical loads shift abruptly. This adaptive approach allows power systems to extract more usable capacity from existing infrastructure—a benefit that extends across all three target sectors but holds particular weight in data centres, where computational demand strains available electricity supply.

Data centres face mounting pressure as AI workloads push power consumption higher while grid connections remain constrained. Vensum's technology addresses this bottleneck by optimising how electricity flows to computing hardware, enabling facilities to operate closer to their power budget limits without infrastructure upgrades.

The question in data centres is no longer only how powerful the chips are, but how efficiently the used electricity actually reaches them. Thanks to the software-defined approach, our converters operate consistently at extremely high efficiency even with rapidly changing loads,

Peter Nisula, CEO of Vensum Power

The company plans to transition its power conversion platform into full-scale production during 2027, initially serving the EV charging, energy storage and DC microgrid segments before pivoting toward data centre applications. This phased rollout reflects Vensum's shift from the research-and-development phase into commercial manufacturing.
