LG Energy Solution and Energix, a renewable energy producer, are moving forward with a collaborative strategy targeting battery storage installations spanning Europe and North America. Through a nonbinding memorandum of understanding, the two companies aim to explore the deployment of roughly 2 gigawatt-hours of storage capacity within a 24-month window, with potential scaling to approximately 4.5 GWh. The framework remains preliminary, with no firm supply obligations locked in at this juncture.

The initial deployment scenario allocates 1.5 GWh toward European markets and 0.5 GWh for the United States. Should the partnership expand as discussed, Europe would receive 3 GWh while North America would get 1.5 GWh. Both volumes would flow from LG Energy Solution's existing manufacturing and distribution infrastructure on both continents.

Merging Storage Technology with Development Expertise

The partnership seeks to leverage LG Energy Solution's battery storage capabilities alongside Energix's strengths in identifying, building and managing renewable energy and storage assets. Energix operates a growing portfolio of facilities and has set its sights on assembling a global presence of more than 8 GW. The two organizations intend to assess the broader pipeline of prospects on an ongoing basis.

Earlier Collaborations and Future Prospects

LG Energy Solution has previously delivered battery technology for Energix's Nowe Czarnowo installation in Poland. Parallel discussions are taking place regarding a potential role in the Jonava hybrid facility in Lithuania, which would incorporate approximately 320 MWh of storage. The Lithuanian project is scheduled to reach commercial operation by 2027.
